Our Story

Background of Emma Westwood, founder of Westwood Travel Limited, set off her career in the travel industry from 16 years of age.

Unbeknown to her, what she embarked on is a huge success story.

ABOUT US

Whilst working on the High Street in Alton, at Lunn Poly until her mid 20’s, she developed strong customer service skills and a wealth of knowledge to set up on her own, from home, whilst she juggled being a mother to her four young children.

It was never Emma’s plan to expand. Her job was her hobby, she loved creating holidays, loved sharing ideas and her knowledge with her clients and offered a very unique, personal service.

While the children grew, as did the business, Emma could no longer work from her understairs cupboard and in 2015 she opened up a shop in Alton and employed her eldest daughter, Lauryn.

The shop served it purpose, it was a great way to separate work and home life, but it also gave Emma the opportunity to meet her regular clients face to face, and meet many new.

Holly, her youngest daughter joined the team just a few months before COVID.

COVID sadly dampened the mood, but in hindsight it was a blessing. It was a very tough time for the industry, with no end in sight. The business had to make a decision, and quickly. The decision was made to close the shop, place the staff on furlough, whilst Emma continued for 18+months from home.

The pandemic seems like a lifetime ago now, it was a learning curve for most. For Westwood Travel, they were able to recover, and very well. The foundations Emma created were recognised by existing and new clients. Her passion to not to give up, and being available 24/7 for her clients when they needed her the most spoke volumes.

The business got back on its feet soon after we were all given the green light to travel. The staff were brought back off furlough, and within the next two years business boomed.

Busier than ever and from the comfort of being at home.

Emma has created a family business, with the plan to take early retirement to travel the world. Both of her daughters, Lauryn and Holly are as passionate and thrive in seeing results and help the business growth.

The family business has expanded, with Catherine, Emma’s daughter in law, joining the team in 2023 and more recently her niece, Lottie in 2024.
